Cotswold Council tax set to rise by 2.9%

Cotswold District Council's Cabinet met today and is recommending to council to increase its share of the council tax by 2.9%. This represents an increase of £3.98 per year or 7.5p per week for the average band D council tax payer. The increase is lower than the rate of inflation and the rise in state pensions.

Subway painting project to get going in Cirencester

A project to paint part of Cirencester will get going this month as budding young graffiti artists tackle an underpass in the town.

The Chesterton underpass, which links Chesterton Lane with Deer Park School and Cirencester College, will have a new lease of life when an on-going project to paint it in a ‘street-art' style will start on Saturday January 24th.

Sustainability institute undertakes UNESCO research

Professor Daniella Tilbury and Ingrid Mulà from the newly established International Research Institute in Sustainability (IRIS) at the University of Gloucestershire have been commissioned by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) to undertake research into Education for Sustainable Development policy frameworks.
