Council seeks local views on dog controls

Dogs could be subject to stronger controls in the Cotswolds later this year following the outcome of the current public consultation by the District Council.

The Council is considering adopting new powers under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act (2005), which allow local authorities to introduce Dog Control Orders.

The November meeting of Chipping Campden WI always includes the AGM so we usually whiz through the ordinary monthly meeting, minutes, reports and so on, to get to the AGM as quickly as possible Afterwards we normally have a short talk before refreshments. This year was different. We did it the other way round!

The charming speaker had brought a presentation from the Gloucestershire Animal Welfare Association and Cheltenham Animal Shelter. Miss Jenner told us of the surprisingly wide field of activities that come under that organisation.

Pedigree Whippet Racing - 4th Championship Meeting

Whippet Racing14th October Sunday - Moreton in Marsh Cricket Club

The Whippet Club Racing Association (WCRA) are holding their fourth (and last for 2008) Championship Meeting at Moreton in Marsh Cricket Club.

This meeting is a bend championship event over a 240 yard horseshoe bend track.

The Cotswold Farm Park was established in 1971 and was Britain's first ever Farm Park. On display is a collection of rare breeds of British Farm animals including sheep, cattle, pigs, goats, horses, poultry and waterfowl.

Moreton-in-Marsh Show is a traditional one day agricultural and horse show held on a green field site in the North Cotswolds on the first Saturday in September every year.

It is the leading agricultural event in Gloucestershire and one of the best shows on the circuit.

The Cotswold Farm Park was Britain's first ever Farm Park having been established in 1971.

Amongst their many rare breeds they have had great success in providing pigs for both TV and films. They recently supplied an iron-age pig for the BBC series - We Built Britain. "They wanted a pig typical of the Elizabethan era to set the scene for the story.

The Whippet Club Racing Association (WRCA) are holding their second Championship meeting of 2007 at Moreton in Marsh.

This meeting is straight championship event over a 150 yard straight track and the dogs will run in weight groups, running off level or scratch.
