Cotswold District donates £325 to church appeal after car park charging mistake

Cotswold District Council is to donate £325 to the appeal to restore Cirencester Parish Church after mistakenly charging on Sundays in one of its car parks.

The Council charges from Monday to Saturday inclusive in its pay and display car parks in Cirencester, while parking on Sundays is free.

Dear Jeremy,

Another wonderful flower festival is over and now many of us are reflecting on the very successful weekend it was. In our tea rooms we had a really happy five days serving lunches and teas to over 1,000 people, but none of that could have happened without our enormous band of helpers: firstly, all the kind people who donated the food (over 100 cakes) and also the non-food items; and then the large number of friends who worked in shifts in the kitchen.

HRH attends service to celebrate 1,000 years of the Shire of Gloucester

His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester will be attending a special service at Gloucester Cathedral this Sunday to mark the 1000th birthday of the county.

The Duke of Gloucester is Patron of Gloucestershire 1000 and will be honouring the county-wide celebrations of Gloucestershire’s 1000th year by attending the celebratory service – one of the main events planned for the millennium year.

The service, being held on 14th October, includes a number of readings about key people from the county’s past.
