Steve Edwards goes to Ireland to run his first marathon under his new world record targets

On Sunday 30th August 2009 Steve Edwards continued his world record challenge by going to Ireland to compete in the Longford Marathon.
Longford is situated in the Irish Midlands and County Longford lies in the Shannon Basin and the upper catchment area of the River Erne.


Steve was wearing race number 271 and here is his race report:-

Steve Edwards rewrites his 2012 World Record challenge

In 1988, Steve Edwards, from Moreton in Marsh, had a dream and embarked on a lifetime challenge to run 500 marathons in an average finish time of less than 3hrs 20min (200 minutes) and thus claim the record 'fastest 500 marathons run by an individual'.

Steve Edwards goes across the water for Marathon 481 and defends his V45 title

Steve Edwards from Moreton-in-the-Marsh completed Marathon Number 481 on Sunday 9th August 2009 by going across the water to compete in the SalClear Isle of Man Marathon.
This Marathon is organised by the IOM Veteran Athletes Club and is run on the Manx Northern Course starting and finishing in Ramsey.

Marathon Number 480 - 1st Home and a course record for Steve Edwards

Our Marathon Man, Steve Edwards, has been having a rest, or so it appears, when you look back at the Marathon schedule that he has run so far this year. However he is back! Marathon Number 480 completed at Faversham, Kent on Saturday 25th July 2009 - a first place and a course record.What a return!

Having just completed his 469 Marathon, and having run his last two Marathons in under three hours, Steve is having a "holiday" and going up to the Lake District for another marathon challenge and the defence of his world record!

This was Marathon Number 469 for Steve and what a result. Another sub 3 hour marathon - the second he has run within a week. He just gets better with age!!

In his quest to run 500 Marathons, Steve went all the way up to the Scottish West Highlands for Marathon Number 468.

Steve Edwards runs back to back marathons - two in two days!!

In case anybody doesn't know, Moreton in Marsh based Steve Edwards is running towards another personal world record by running 500 Marathons by 2012 ( when he is 50 and that little event The Olympic Games - takes place) all in an average time of under 3 hours 20 minutes.

Steve Edwards goes to the West of Ireland for Marathon no.465 (and his wife runs too)

On Sunday 22nd March 2009 Steve Edwards travelled to Galway to take part in the Connemara International Marathon which is a day of racing around a very scenic part of the West of Ireland. The day comprises of a Half Marathon, a Full Marathon and a 39.3 mile Ultra Marathon.
