Hear tales from the Hundred Years War at Moreton Area Centre

Come to the Moreton Area Centre and hear local historian Tim Porter tell the tale of how 14th Century England drifted into the devastating Hundred Years War.

The three nations involved – England, Scotland and France – fought the war primarily on French soil from 1337 to 1453, and Tim Porter will hold talks at the High Street centre in June and July to explain the complex causes of the conflict.

Cotswolds Steve Edwards smashes the world recordOn Sunday 18th May 2008 Steve Edwards smashed the world record by running 10 marathons in 10 days in the fastest ever combined finish time - 35 hours, 20 minutes, 44 seconds - which totally blew away the old record of 37 hours, 39 minutes, 34 seconds set in 2007.

This new world record equates to running each and every marathon in just 3 hours, 32 minutes , 4 seconds on each of ten days which is a truly staggering performance that will sit deservedly in the record books for some time to come.

Four Anjels are finalists in the Heart of England Fine Foods Diamond Awards

Cotswolds based bakery Four Anjels are finalists in the Bakery Category of the Heart of England Fine Foods (HEFF) Diamond Awards. Four Anjels have two products in the running for an award - Four Anjels Stem Ginger Cake and Four Anjels Stem Ginger Biscuits and the winners will be revealed on Saturday May 17th at HEFF's 10th Anniversary "Dinner of the Decade" at the Coventry Ricoh Arena.

Steve Edwards from Moreton-in-the Marsh has one day left before he starts his World Record Challenge to run the fastest ever cumulative time for 10 marathons in 10 days.

Gloucestershire is up there with four of Britain's 50 richest towns

The Telegraph Property has published a list of Britain's 50 richest towns and Gloucestershire has four towns on the list - Chipping Campden at No. 18, Stow-on-the-Wold at no. 33, Moreton-in-Marsh at No. 42 and Winchcombe at No. 48.

Moreton to host energy advice session in May

Advice on energy saving during the spring and summer months – as well as a free energy-saving light bulb – will be the subject of a session at the Moreton Area Centre next month.

Counting up to 500 Marathons- Number 451 is completed on target

Cotswolds based Steve Edwards completed Marathon number 451 on Sunday April 6th.
Steve only had to go to Taunton, Somerset this time, to complete marathon number 451 in his bid for a world record of running 500 marathons by 2012 in an average time of under 3 hours 20 minutes. Only 49 more races to go!
The Flora London Marathon is next on the list.
