Scuttlebrook Wake - Chipping Campden

2nd June Scuttlebrook Wake

The Scuttlebrook Wake always follows on the next day after the Robert Dover's Olimpick Games.

There is a procession of the Scuttlebrook May Queen from Littleworth to the square, pulled on her cart by the Chipping Campden Morris Men, accompanied by her four attendants and a page boy.

She is followed by decorated floats and a fancy dress parade and all shops and houses along the route are encouraged to enter a window competition. The subject for this year's competition is "Children's stories".

The queen is crowned in the square and then she presents prizes to the follower with the best fancy dress. After this the square is filled with entertainment from Maypole Dancing, Country Dancing and Morris Dancing.

For the rest of the day it is the fun of the fair with Littleworth full of traditional fair rides.

Stay for two days at Little Gidding and see both events.

Update 17th May from the Chipping Campden Bulletin... Shop / House Window Competition

The subject of this year's Shop/House Window competition is 'Children's Stories'. This should give everyone, including the children, a wide range of ideas - from the modern such as Harry Potter to the old favourites like Peter Rabbit. All shops and houses along the route, from Littleworth to the chemist, are welcome to enter and judging will take place on the morning of Scuttlebrook Wake.

The Scuttlebrook committee would also like to encourage as many as possible to enter the fancy dress parade or take part on a float on the day as this brings much interest to locals and visitors alike. The children's races, which in recent years have been well supported, will take place as usual on the High Street near the Lygon Arms on the Friday evening of Dovers Games.
