Apples For Charity at The University of Gloucestershire

An apple a day not only keeps the doctor away – it raises money for charity, supports local orchards and reduces your carbon footprint.
The University of Gloucestershire's catering company Chartwells has purchased 1000 Cox’s apples from nearby Cotswold Orchards in Worcestershire. The apples are on sale in refectories across Park, Pittville, Francis Close Hall and Oxstalls campuses – with all proceeds going to Cancer Research UK.
Sandra Kerton from Chartwells said: “Chartwells and the University of Gloucestershire are working in partnership to promote local produce. English apples are at their best during October and November and we strongly believe in providing tasty, healthy produce that’s in season, while supporting the local economy. The apples from Cotswold Orchards travel less than 25 miles to the University and by reducing food miles we cut down on greenhouse gases and damage to the environment.”
