Old Boys of St Paul's Practising School making their mark

Saturday December 12th, 2009, 2pm. The Chapel, The University of Gloucestershire, Francis Close Hall, Swindon Road, Cheltenham GL52 3JG

The Old Boys of St Paul’s Practising School will be joining Lord Carey of Clifton and other guests for a special memorial in honour of students who lost their lives in combat.
Members of the public are also warmly welcomed to the service at the University Chapel on Saturday December 12. The event will help to raise £2,500 to complete the restoration of a memorial board, commemorating 168 fallen students from the school. The fund will also enable a special plaque for those who lost their lives in the First World War to be installed.
The fundraising is the brainchild of Old Boy Ron Prewer, who discovered the faded and worn memorial board, which includes the name of his grandfather.
The school was part of St Paul’s College from 1847 to 1951, and is now part of the University of Gloucestershire’s Francis Close Hall campus in Cheltenham.
The service will be led by the University’s Chancellor, Lord Carey of Clifton, who will be joined by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Patricia Broadfoot, and University Chaplain Rev Tamsin Merchant.
Everyone is welcome to attend and admission is free, however booking is essential as we have a limited number of seats.  To reserve places please contact Cheryl Higgs on 01242 714829 or email chapelcentenary@glos.ac.uk.
