News is spreading that Steve is getting very close to his World Record and he received an invite to go to Slovakia and run in the CSOB Bratislava Marathon on Sunday 28th March.
Steve carried race number 498 and Teresa had race number 2586 and ran for Bourton Roadrunners
Here is Steve's Race Report
"The Bratislava Marathon on Sunday gave me the opportunity to run in a new country and also Teresa as she did the half marathon. This was a late decision in the end but the result of a very kind invite from the organisers when they heard I was very close to running 500 marathons.
As this was quite a flat course, I decided to go out at 7:30min/mile pace to test the fitness and if okay to press for a sub 3:15. Having reached halfway in just over 1:37 and not feeling too bad I decided to go for it and pushed on to reach 20 miles in 2:27 eventually crossing the line in 3:13:15 for 52nd place out of nearly 500 runners. It was actually quite a warm day so I was very pleased to dip under 3:15 again for the first time since Dec last year, especially as this gives me my qualifying time for the 2012 London marathon. Two months ago I couldn't run at all, but having run 3 marathons in the past 22 days, I'm now starting to believe that I might just make the 500 very soon!
Teresa also had a good race running at even pace from start to finish for a time of 2:04:38 and enjoying every moment of the event. This gave her a 45m training week as she continues her preparation to run her first (and only) marathon in May.
