Heavenly interpretations for oboe and harp at Chipping Sodbury!

James Turnbull, oboe and Claire Jones, harpist to HRH the Prince of Wales (2007-2011) will be performing in the Town Hall in Chipping Sodbury on Tuesday 9 October 2012 at 7.30 pm. Tickets will be available on the door; adults £12 and school-age children FREE.

After excelling at the violin, piano and harp, Claire Jones graduated as a harpist from the Royal College of Music with First Class Honours in 2007 and in 2009 graduated as an M.A. scholar from the Royal Academy of Music. Claire was one of the first recipients of the Prince of Wales Advanced Study Awards in 2007 and 2008. This award recognised her as one of Wales' most outstanding young talents. In 2007, Claire was appointed Official Harpist to His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales, a rôle she held until 2011, making her the longest serving Royal harpist to date. During this appointment, Claire regularly performed for the Royal Family and their distinguished guests at the Royal Palaces. In April 2011 she performed for the newly married Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at their wedding reception in Buckingham Palace.

"Claire Jones, The Girl With The Golden Harp", was released on CD on 3 September 2012 by Classic FM and entered the Classical charts at no 3.

James Turnbull is an accomplished recitalist whose debut solo disc, "Fierce Tears" was released in 2011 by Quartz Music. As a featured artist of the Concert Promoters Network and the Countess of Munster Recital Scheme, James has performed many recitals throughout the UK and appeared in festivals including Swaledale, King's Lynn and Cambridge Summer Music. In 2010 he gave his debut recital at the Wigmore Hall as a Maisie Lewis award winner from the Worshipful Company of Musicians. James is also an active chamber and orchestral musician. He has freelanced throughout Europe with the Wroclaw Philarmonic in Poland, the Russian Chamber Orchestra of St Petersburg and Konstanz Philharmonie in Germany. In the UK James has played with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Britten Sinfonia, Philharmonia Orchestra, Aurora Orchestra, Southbank Sinfonia, the Allegri Quartet and the Berkeley Ensemble. He is making a long overdue return after his last performance for the Society in April 2009.
