Jessie May Trust to support Saddleback Sodbury Cycling Sportive 2013

The Rotary Club of Chipping Sodbury today announced that its second annual Cycling Sportive will support The Jessie May Trust (1), a Charity who provide free of charge nursing care at home for children living with terminal illnesses.

The Club has also attracted a major sponsor for its second annual Sportive in local Yate Company ‘Saddleback' (2) - the number one distributor of performance cycling products to the UK industry.

‘We are absolutely delighted to be in a position to help to raise funds for such a worthy cause as Jessie May' commented event organizer Rotarian Bill Bennett, ‘and of course to have secured sponsorship from such a major name is the icing on the cake' Bill continued.

Julian Withers from Jessie May said "Its fantastic to be able to team up with the Rotary Club with this event. The club has been an amazing supporter of Jessie May over the years. Jessie May Nurses are currently caring for 70 terminally ill children and their families. There are still so many more local families that are in need of support so I encourage all cyclists of all abilities to join in the Sodbury Sportive for a fantastic day of cycling and fun."

2012 Sportive

The 2013 Saddleback Sodbury Cycling Sportive (3) takes place on Sunday 18th August starting at Chipping Sodbury Rugby Club. The inaugural 2012 Sportive attracted 376 riders, far in excess of expectations.

Following huge interest in the event the organisers have decided to limit entry to 750 riders this year and are encouraging entry at the earliest possible time to avoid disappointment.

The event is very much a personal challenge and not a race, it offers a varied ride starting and finishing in the medieval town of Chipping Sodbury. 30 mile, 60 mile and 100 mile routes ensure that the event caters for all levels of cycling ability and fitness.

The route takes participants through some of the prettiest highways and byways and combines some challenging steep climbs with flat and fast sections of the Cotswold Edge.
