Court Barn Museum Chipping Campden receives award for quality Services

Court Barn Museum is celebrating after being awarded Full Accreditation status by Arts Council England (ACE).

The Museum Accreditation Scheme is the UK quality standard for museums and galleries and is managed by ACE. It serves as an authoritative benchmark for assessing performance, rewarding achievement and driving improvement in museums.

Court Barn Museum has successfully maintained its accreditation status, originally gained in 2008 after only one year of operation. It is a fantastic achievement.

The award shows the Museum's commitment to managing its collections, ensuring good governance, listening and responding to visitors and continuing to move forward for the enjoyment and benefit of Chipping Campden residents and visitors. This is reflected in positive reviews and feedback. For example, one recent comment from the Visitor book said, "Beautiful, well presented Museum. Elegant and informative and wonderful introduction to the craft movement in the Cotswolds."

The Museum's education provision continues to grow. Recent work with a local primary school in Blockley who took part in a "Take Over Day" was cited in their Enterprise Education Ofsted Report. The report noted that the "pupils proudly recount the day they took over and ran a local museum and craft centre and dealt with customers and clients".

Exhibitions and events at the Museum continue to link with the local community. Last year it took part in an HLF funded project with Chipping Campden Music Festival and this year it is hosting an event as part of the Chipping Campden Literary Festival. The Museum has a vibrant programme of temporary exhibitions and family friendly activities during school holidays.

Town Mayor, Chris Jones said: "Since its opening, Court Barn Museum has been a great asset to Chipping Campden attracting visitors from all over the world. I am delighted that it has retained its Full Accreditation Status. The Arts and Crafts tradition is very important to Campden and I am particularly impressed by Court Barn's educational work with local schoolchildren. I would like to congratulate the hard working trustees, volunteers and staff on their achievement."

About Court Barn Museum
Court Barn Museum is an independent museum. The museum was created through the generous support of the Heritage Lottery Fund and monies raised by the Guild of Handicraft Trust.

The Museum tells the story of how a small town, in a beautiful setting, became a gathering place for creative people at the start of the 20th Century and continues to attract designers and makers today. Highlights include work by C.R.Ashbee, F.L Griggs and Katharine Adams.

About Arts Council England (ACE)
The Arts Council champions, develops and invests in artistic and cultural experiences that enrich people's lives. We support a range of activities across the arts, museums and libraries - from theatre to digital art, reading to dance, music to literature, and crafts to collections. Great art and culture inspires us, brings us together and teaches us about ourselves and the world around us. In short, it makes life better. Between 2011 and 2015, we will invest £1.4 billion of public money from government and an estimated £1 billion from the National Lottery to help create these experiences for as many people as possible across the country
