Geoffrey Clifton-Brown MP welcomes School children to Parliament

During a debate on the finances of the House of Commons, Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, Member of Parliament for The Cotswolds, who is a member of the Finance and Services Committee has stated his view of how important it is that school children are able to visit Parliament.

Defending the costs involved with a new purpose built Education Centre Mr Clifton-Brown stated that "it is right that we should get as many of our schoolchildren around this place to see how this fount of democracy works and what we actually do on a day to day basis."

Geoffrey Clifton-Brown also highlighted that visits to Parliament could help engage younger people in politics and encourages them to vote in elections. They would also discover how their views could influence decisions made in Parliament through their MP.

Mr Clifton-Brown also mentioned the need to encourage schools from outside of London to visit Parliament more, and highlighted the need for additional funding to make these visits possible.

Geoffrey is happy to receive school visits at Parliament at the request of local schools. If any school would like to arrange a visit please contact his office.
