Open Farm Sunday - An Opportunity to Feed your Senses

On Sunday 1st June, hundreds of farmers across the country will be opening their gates to the public. Open Farm Sunday, organised by Linking Environment and Farming (LEAF) offers a fantastic opportunity for everyone, young and old, to enjoy the living , vibrant countryside.

With over 500 farms around Britain expected to open to the public on 1st June, there will be plenty of opportunities to take time to listen to the birds, soak up the scenery nurtured by the farmer, experience the smells of of the farmyard and really get in touch with the land that sustains us. It is a great chance to discover first hand what it means to be a farmer - and even taste the produce that comes from the land.

Old Farm is open from 11.00 to 15.00 and activities include- Shearing Demonstration (at 11.30 and 13.30) - Farm Walk & Quiz- Guided Farm Tour (at 14.00) - Farm Shop

Greystone Farm is open from 14.30 to 16.30 and you can see the cows being milked and the calves being fed plus a Nature Trail.

Manor Farm is open from 12.00 and activities will include a Farm Trail & Quiz - Dry Stone Walling demonstration - Model Aircraft flying display including toffee bomber - Shearing demonstration (15.00) - Cows being milked (16.00 onwards) - some refreshments will be available

Over Farm is open from 10.00 to 17.00. There will be two Nature Trails, one of about 2 miles and one small one of about 500 metres. Trailer Rides all day - Farm Shop.

Linking Environment and Farming (LEAF) is a national charity that helps farmers to care for the environment and the wildlife that it sustains.
An increasing number of farmers are signing up to the LEAF scheme which integrates modern farming know-how with conservation.
Food carrying the LEAF marque logo indicates that it has been grown by farmers who are committed to looking after the countryside and the environment.
