New home for Cotswold housing advice service

Housing advice service HomeView is moving to Cotswold District Council’s Cirencester offices from 5th January 2009.

The HomeView service is currently provided on the Council’s behalf by Fosseway Living from its site on the Tetbury Road.

The decision to bring it back ‘in house’ and base it at CDC’s Trinity Road site will save the Council more than £72,000 a year.

Under the new arrangements, HomeView will also be getting a new name – The Housing Advice Service.

The current staff will become employees of the Council and will provide advice on choice-based lettings, housing and homelessness from offices next to CDC’s main reception desk.

However, all of the former Council housing stock across the Cotswolds – which was transferred from CDC’s ownership in 1996 – will remain under the ownership and control of Fosseway Living and tenants should continue to go to Fosseway with any queries relating to their homes.

Sir Edward Horsfall, the Council’s Portfolio Holder for Community Services, said:  “The Council has been very happy with the housing advice service that Fosseway has provided over the past 11 years.

“The move means that housing advice will be available in a more central location within Cirencester, and it will provide people of the Cotswolds with a dedicated service for their queries.”
